Academic Cooperation with Bari Aldo Moro University in Italy

Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics Education, continues to strengthen its ties with established educational institutions in Europe in line with its internationalization vision. Within this scope, Dr. Fatih Taş, a faculty member from our Department of Mathematics and Science Education, visited Bari Aldo Moro University (Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro), one of Italy's prestigious institutions.
One of the most important outcomes of the visit was the implementation of a new cooperation ERASMUS agreement that will encourage academic mobility and joint scientific studies between the two universities. This strategic agreement, formally signed between Assoc. Prof. Dr. Antonella on behalf of Bari Aldo Moro University and Dr. Fatih Taş on behalf of Bartın University, will lay the groundwork for future joint research projects, faculty exchange programs, and opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain international experience.
During the visit, Dr. Taş actively participated in training activities conducted within the framework of the University of Aldo Moro in Bari, meeting with Italian teacher candidates and academics. The 5-day course program covered the most current theoretical and practical approaches in mathematics education. The lectures focused on the following critical topics:
-The Turkish Century Education Model
-The Philosophy and Epistemological Beliefs of Mathematics Education: The nature of mathematical knowledge and its impact on learning processes,
-Ethnomathematics in the context of Turkish-Italian culture
This 5-day training series, which involved the mutual sharing of knowledge and experience, was followed with great interest and appreciation by Italian colleagues and students.
To observe the practical implications of academic collaboration, a visit was made to IISS Dell'Olio Cosmai Bisceglie, one of Bari's leading educational institutions. During this field visit, the functioning of the Italian education system, the school's pedagogical model, classroom mathematics teaching practices, and physical learning environments were examined on-site. During meetings with school administrators and teachers, best practices regarding the application of theoretical knowledge to classroom practice were mutually evaluated.
The aim is to further strengthen these strong ties established with Bari Aldo Moro University, which enhance Bartın University's representation on the international stage, with new projects in the coming period.
